Looping – Creating Patterned Music With Technology

Looping is the playback of repeated sections of sound material. Why would anyone use such a device? One use is that it allows a person (with 2 hands and 1 instrument) to perform a solo, but with music sound and effect layers as if they were playing with other musicians/vocalists. It also is such an amazing piece of audio technology that allows people to be much more creative than they would have been to otherwise.

One drawback of the looper is that due to the repetitive nature of the sound, it limits you to a certain rhythm.

We use a looper pedal and guitar to record different sound material, merging it with additional pieces of sound, with each section looping and playing repeatedly. We also show looping in the context of voice.
